The strengh of the LONE PINE CATTLE herd is based on genetics from many well- known foundation females and herd sires. Through selective breeding of our own herd sires and A.I., we are producing award winning calves that are proving themselves in the show ring as well as in the pasture. Weaning time is further proof that LONE PINE CATTLE genetics are keeping us on track.
Our goal is to enhance genetics for greater carcass yields and lower birth weights, receiving the most return for our dollar invested. We select only the top 20% of our bull calves to be future herd sires for our buyers. They must first be phenotypically correct. Further culling is based on calving ease, performance data, and disposition. Those that don't make it into the "select few", are banded at weaning. A LONE PINE CATTLE herd sire will make a desirable addition improving any commercial or purebred herd, adding dollars to your bottom line. Growth hormones or implants are never used.
